It’s just history repeating…

The other day, one of my colleague asked me if I wanted to go to the movies. I said, “yes sure why not !”. I was happy to go except if there were sharped tooth, Robert Pattinson, a fake latino/kind wolf and maybe some garlic and a coffin involved in all this. She said God no ! We won’t watch Twilight (Eclipse), don’t worry. I said to her I didn’t give a fuck about teenagers wetting their panties watching a so-called handsome white as a toothpaste boy during 2 hours dying to have sex with some random brown-haired girl. All this vampire thing it just pisses me off. I loved Buffy back in the eighties nineties, but vampires really I can’t stand it anymore. And plus Buffy* was alright because she had all this feminist, strong empowered woman kind of thing going on. And I really like that kind of characters. But bella really… ?

I just gave a thought about it. Just one not two. And I just remembered the post I did about teenage american series being awfuly, ridiculously always the same ! Using the same ingredients, the same kind of actors. The handsome misterious brown-haired boy (alien or vampires that’s a similar thing, they are weirdos after all) who save an innocent girl named chastity girl Liz or Bella.

Because Just like Liz in “Roswell High”, fragile, defenceless, poor little Bella is being rescued by her beloved strong hero. (Simone de Beauvoir is dancing in her tomb?!!). And just like that, the two girls have been rescued in extremis and the two couragous and strong boys will risk to lose everything they have for the sake of these shallow girls…( Girls really have great characters in Holly”weird”)

The first scenes of Roswell High and Toilette Twilight are ludicrously the same and they are the reasons why I won’t see this “vampire movie” : I’VE ALREADY SEEN IT TEN YEARS AGO !

It’s all about the hand guys !

* Nobody used to save Buffy, she used to save her blond ass by herself (not like Lana, Bella or Liz). You go girl !

  1. Hi Sally

I also don’t understand all the madness about TWILIGHT. Girls (Bella) are supposed to be weak and fragile, So they must be rescued by a handsome superhero. I’m sick and tired of this kind of crap.

  2. Lol but I do have an exception on the first episode of “True Blood” the girl (Sookie Stackhouse) saved the vampire (Bill Compton) from death…I mean from the end of his dead life…well…you know :D

  3. hey Sally !
    where are you ?
    we need you !!!

.. and about twilight, the first episode was already so boring (there are much better vampires movies.., i’m sure, i like it) that i did’nt want to see the second.

  4. I just say long live Buffy (say the enthusiastic former big fan)! She were a real heroin, didn’t need a man to rescue her every ten seconds, (She saved the world on her own, twice, :), that’s the kind of hero-figure teenagers need today! Not a Bella-going-to-faint charachter, tough i liked the Max-and-Liz couple…

  5. You were right to think that Twilight would waste your time. I watched the movies out of curiosity & I wasted mine…
It seems like the plot was imagined by a horny 14-year-old. I remember writing short stories involving me, my friends and my crushes back in the day. Where everything fell into place and the guy would fall deeply in love with me… That kind of stupid thing.
Well, seems like Stephenie Meyer had the same idea, though she must be 10 years older than me.
The movies were painful to watch for that reason. And because the girl who plays Bella’s part has a range of emotions as wide as a goldfish. AND Robert Pattinson is as sexy as an old crusty toenail in this.

Anyway, I think that once again, producers want to manipulate the audience. Teenagers are an easy target… Hence the bad quality of most TV series aimed at them.
